Hi, I’m Dennis 👋 I am an indie developer from Austria 🇦🇹

The story of ReadHero started with a frustrating realization. I used to finish a book, close the cover, and feel a deep sense of accomplishment. But a few weeks later, when I tried to explain a key concept to a friend, I’d draw a blank.

I realized I had become a “professional page turner” instead of a learner.

I was consuming life changing ideas, but I wasn’t retaining them. My highlights were trapped in book margins or buried in a messy Notes app, never to be seen again. I was doing the work of reading, but I was losing the reward of remembering.

In 2021, I decided to stop searching for the perfect tool and start building it.

Handcrafted with Intent

Armed with an old 2011 MacBook Pro and a lot of patience, I began coding the app I wished existed. I wanted something fast, native, and beautiful… a digital home for my thoughts that felt as intentional as the books I was reading.

Every line of code in ReadHero is written by me in native Swift. No shortcuts, no templates… just a focus on building the best possible experience for people who love to read.

A Family Project

I wasn’t alone on this journey. My brother helped define the soul of ReadHero. He hand drew every illustration in the app… no AI, no stock art, just pure human creativity. From our name to our iconic hero logo, this is a true family project built with love and intention.
